Technology in 2016
Happy New Year! Last year was a great year, and we are looking forward to all that 2016 has in store. In discussing goals for the New Year with our customers, we’ve found that many are looking to implement or build upon their Cloud, disaster recovery and data security strategies. In the coming months, we plan to bring you a more in-depth look at each of these areas with additional insight from our technical experts.
Cloud Migration. Cloud technology is a great way to increase efficiency in a business and protect and back up data. The Cloud is a versatile tool with numerous options to help business owners meet their goals. For example, when Coveris switched to Immedion’s All-SSD Cloud Storage solution, they quickly found they increased productivity and enjoyed a better user experience.
But, the road to the Cloud is not always easy. Immedion specializes in assisting customers migrate their information and applications to the Cloud with little to no downtime. We strive to ensure that Cloud migration is a simple, painless process, so our customers can begin enjoying the benefits of Cloud right away.
Disaster Recovery. Recent events, such as the South Carolina floods and record rains across much of the nation, have reminded us that disasters really do happen. According to FEMA, over the past 5 years, the average commercial flood claim has been approximately $85,000. They estimate that approximately forty percent of businesses never reopen after a disaster. A disaster recovery plan is a crucial step in ensuring your business can withstand a disaster. Does your business regularly back up and record your data? Are you equipped to continue to run your critical programs and applications even in the event of a disaster? Are your servers at risk? These are important questions to ask as you evaluate the plans currently in place and seek to improve them in order to be as prepared as possible when disaster strikes.
Not sure where to start with your disaster recovery planning process? Our technical experts can help. We have a variety of disaster recovery options, including Cloud based DR and data replication, to help customize your solution and ensure that your business is ready if disaster strikes.
Data Security. As we mentioned in December, the hacker industry has continued to grow over the past several years, and IT leaders will need to include threat detection and response in addition to traditional blocking security measures. We recently completed a network upgrade to enable deeper levels of network security including additional encryption services and an Ethernet virtual private line with point to multipoint connectivity or point to point connectivity. This ensures that we can provide customers with an added layer of security when transferring data from one Immedion location to another. At Immedion, keeping our customers’ data safe and secure is and will always be one of our top priorities.
We look forward to a great 2016, and wish you the best in the coming year!
